This suite, which is the successor to Microsoft Office 2000 and predecessor to Office 2003, can be identified by the name ‘Office 10’ or its codename. It was released on March 5, 2001 in the USA, while in Europe it first appeared in markets on August 4, 2001. The ‘Mainstream’support phase for Office XP came to an end on the 11th of July 2006. This was also the day that Windows 98/ME were discontinued. Extended support ended on 12 July 2011. Office XP tools received the title of 2002, even though they had the suffix “XP”. Word 2002, for example, was not named Word XP.

The end of clippy

Microsoft Office XP’s advertising campaign highlighted the removal of Clippy & other Office Assistants from the default option.
